Idaho Arts Charter School Parent Teacher Organization WHEN: 4/21/09 WHERE: Multi P. Rm. TIME: 6:30-7:30pm President V. President Secretary Treasurer 4 Members At Large Each position is a 1 year term. Nominate yourself or if you wish, you can request to be nominated. The nomination process will be followed by the secret ballot. Refreshments following the meeting to celebrate! PTO OFFICER DESCRIPTIONS: PRESIDENT: (effort: year-round, on-going) Serve as leader and key contact for the PTO; prepare the agendas; preside at all PTO meetings and facilitate any group discussion; review the minutes; ex-officio member of committees (except nomination committee); appoint chairpersons for special committees; coordinate the work of the officers and committees so that the PTO'S objectives can be met. As Chief Executive of the Organization, the President shall be responsible to perform the necessary duties that are needed to benefit the PTO. Perform duties of the Treasurer as needed; make written reports of PTO progress. Attend monthly school board meetings or appoint a PTO representative to do so. It is the responsibility of the President to orient the newly elected President and to plan the annual calendar and projected budget needed to meet PTO objectives. VICE PRESIDENT: (effort: year-round, on-going) Act as an aide to the President: perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability of that officer to serve; review the monthly bank statement with the Treasurer; assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Board; coordinate the general activities of any Special Committees create by the board. Ideally - is willing to serve as President in the future. SECRETARY: (effort: 4-5 hours per month, includes attending meeting and typing up minutes) Attend all meetings and record proceedings and votes; maintain master documents; assist the President as necessary to handle any necessary correspondence. TREASURER: (effort: 5-6 hours per month on average) Responsible for and have custody of all funds; make disbursements as properly authorized; be present at all PTO events where money will be collected; assure that PTO policies and best practices are followed with regards to funds; keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures; prepare financial reports for each meeting and as needed; prepare the books for an annual audit; review the monthly bank statements with the Vice President. MEMBER AT LARGE (effort: 2-4 hours per month, includes attending meeting) Takes on assignments and assists with events as their schedule allows; attends all PTO meetings; is the key contact for specific grade levels; coordinates a social event for specific grade levels each year. They are the things we do. Priorities grow out of the things we value and do. Idaho Arts Charter School PTO consider our students our #1 priority. Our main focus is to Put Together Opportunities that will benefit our students, enhancing their school experience with events that promote fun, and community involvement. The money that is earned through fundraisers will largely be reinvested into the classroom and other school and teacher needs as they arise.
